Overview

Occupational English Test is an International English Language Test for healthcare professionals. It assesses the language communication skills of healthcare professionals who seek to register and practice in an English-speaking environment.

OET TRAINING

OET stands for the Occupational English Test. The OET English exam tests the English language skills of a person in the healthcare sector. The Occupational English Test is a globally recognized English language examination for aspiring healthcare practitioners seeking training in an area where the main language is English.

OET or Occupational English Test is a language proficiency test used a substitute for IELTS certification which is mainly accepted in the following countries:

Australia , UAE ,New Zealand , United Kingdom , Ireland, Singapore

OET is available for the following 12 professions: dentistry, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy, physiotherapy, podiatry, radiography, speech pathology, and veterinary science. OET provides a valid and reliable assessment of all four language skills- Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking – with an emphasis on communication in medical and health professional settings.

Modules

There are 2 sections of this segment. The aspirant must listen to a conversation between a patient and a professional in Part A, and you ought to take notes about the interaction. You will hear a lecture from one person in Part B. You will be asked to answer questions about what you have heard in the form of multiple choices.

Also, this segment consists of 2 sections. The duration of Part A is 15 minutes and allows the aspirant to see 3 or 4 passages. Then, a paragraph summarizing the text with words omitted will be given to the aspirant. You ought to use the creativity to fill in these blanks. The duration of Part B is 45 minutes and the aspirant would need to read passages referring to popular healthcare topics and then respond to multiple choices.

This section is necessarily an imitation of an occupation’s exact accredited encounter. To write professional correspondence, the aspirant has 45 minutes. This would usually take the form of a letter of referral, but a letter of release or expert advice may be used in some jobs.

With the help of an interviewer, this segment is completed. Before moving on to the role-play section, the aspirant starts after being given a description of their own professional background. The role-play scenario for this section is focused on popular communications that exist in a career, such as assuming the part of an animal owner from an interviewer in the field of veterinary science, the aspirant must have to display a blend of professional expertise and interpersonal skills to deal with the circumstances.
